Hotel Q&A with… Love and Limoncello

Hello again, it’s time for another Hotel Q&A and today it’s with Zoe from Love and Limoncello. Zoe is a born and bred Londoner with a lust for travelling and blogs about luxury travel, food and her London lifestyle.

Take it away Zoe.

What’s your must have hotel amenity?

The little details really matter to me so my must have hotel amenity is a great selection of luxury toiletries. I particularly love Ritz Carlton for this as they use Asprey.

What’s the most creative or quirky hotel amenity you’ve come across?

The quirkiest hotel amenity is undoubtedly when I stayed at Schloss Fuschl and not only did the hotel have a pool, but it had various hot and cold plunge pools, and one outside where you could watch the midnight stars.

What hotel could you happily return to again and again?

This is difficult, there are two. Firstly Schloss Fuschl in Salzburg Austria! Just absolutely breathtaking views, great service and pure luxury. The suite we had overlooked the lake, purely magical. A very close second would be my stay at the Six Senses Hua Hin. Exceptional beyond belief.

For you, what makes a great hotel?

A great hotel for me is brilliant service, a great location, well-appointed bedrooms, and great facilities such as a bar, pool, gym, etc.

What is your welcome amenity of choice?

The best way to welcome me to any hotel is bubbles! I certainly won’t say no to a glass of Champagne.

Do you interact with hotels on social media before arrival?

I don’t generally interact with hotels on social media before I arrive but if it is a special occasion I try to ensure that I let them know beforehand.

In your opinion which hotel is continuously great at social media?

I think the Ritz Carlton group and the Four Seasons are excellent at social media. They really do engage with their guests.

What are your basic expectations for every hotel?

As a basic for me a hotel must be clean! If it’s not clean I won’t stay there!

Hotel wifi – do you ever pay for it?

I cannot remember the last time I paid for wifi and would never expect to pay for it. Wifi for me is a basic.

What is your hotel pet peeve?

A check in time that takes forever.

What’s an absolute hotel no no?

Dirty hotels, there is no excuse.

Do you use hotel minibars or avoid them like the plague?

I tend to avoid hotel mini bars as I learnt my lesson when I stayed in The Savoy in London and ate a KitKat before dinner. The KitKat cost me £4! Most expensive KitKat ever. The lesson there is don’t eat chocolate before your dinner.

Do you generally stay in budget, design, standard or luxury hotels?

Mmm I do like a luxury hotel and that is normally my first preference.

Do you prefer boutique or chain properties?

I am more open to boutique hotels having stayed at some excellent ones. I really loved my stay at the Vault House Karakoy in Istanbul.

Do you ask for an upgrade upon arrival?

I generally don’t ask for an upgrade but I am often lucky enough to sometimes be automatically upgraded as the BF and I are platinum members of hotel groups such as the Ritz.

Which hotel is on your wish list?

Ahhh my hotel wish list!!! I think my boyfriend may name this the bankrupting list but nonetheless it includes… The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, Six Senses Zighy Bay, and the Chiawa Camp in Zambia. There are plenty more on the list but these are my top three.
