It’s no secret I’m a hotel fanatic and despite only opening in April this year I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to find out about Melba.
Melba belongs to The Savoy and sits on the corner of the Strand and Savoy Court. It’s the hotel’s all new take away gourmet counter housing a selection of crazily beautiful and detailed treats including sweet and savoury pastries, sandwiches, croissants, macaroons, cupcakes, and drinks.
But forget about all them for now. Because it’s all about Melba’s signature éclairs and I am obsessed with them. I didn’t even know I liked éclairs but it turns out I do and I need to go back another 10 times to have tried each of the 12 varieties available.
Check out these stunners; chocolate coconut and crème brûlée.
Soft, fresh, indulgent, luxurious, so moreish. And packaged so beautifully.
Other flavours include pistachio and cherry, Peach Melba, passion fruit and milk chocolate, lychee, rose and raspberry, lemon meringue, and salted caramel. All the éclairs are priced at £2.95.
I just think this is a fantastic idea. Hotels, especially ones as grand and historic as The Savoy, can be really intimidating places and by having a place like Melba sitting on the corner the hotel is attracting those walking by who might not feel comfortable or have time to drop into the hotel. It’s also showcasing and offering a little bit of what The Savoy is about to non-residents while earning a lovely bit of extra revenue and hopefully tempting them down Savoy Court to sample the full delights.
Love love love. See you soon Melba. Save a salted caramel éclair for me.
